Re: New Ellery Queen Story!

Harry and others --

You might also like to check out the EQMM website. I am very honored that the magazine saw fit to excerpt The Mad Hatter's Riddle this month. As a result, you can read all the way up to the murder on line. For the solution, however, they expect you to shell out for the magazine!

Go to http://www.themysteryplace.com/eqmm/ and then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the title of the story.

By the way, I have no idea whether Lee and Dannay had in mind the intended ending I offered up as an epilog to And On The Eighth Day. I came up with it after wondering (for decades!) if there was any "rhyme" that could tie together the loose ends in the story. I think the fact that there ARE loose ends in the book is itself interesting -- that is very UNlike Queen -- something I expect more of Christie!

Re: New Ellery Queen Story!

I have contacted EQMM twice, through their web site, about buying this as a back issue. Unfortunately they don't answer back, though they claim to sell back issues... It seems impossible to get hold of a copy of this if you live outside the U.S.

Does anyone in this forum (Dale, maybe You received some extra writer's copies ?) have an extra copy of the September/October 2009 number of EQMM to sell to me, I would be very grateful!

Re: New Ellery Queen Story!

Hakan --

I only received three "authors copies," though I have ordered more (which have yet to show up!) However, the magazine is also offered in downloadable format at the following website:

http://www.fictionwise.com/servlet/m...92104&id=69455

If emails are unanswered you might try posting an inquiry on the EQMM Readers Forum -- http://www.themysteryplace.com/forum/default.aspx -- it is monitored daily by the magazine and should get the attention of Janet Hutchings or Emiliy Giglierano.

On a different note, Kurt Sercu, our trusty moderator, and his family are visiting our family this week, having flown across the Atlantic from Belgium last Thursday. Today we are motoring across the Chesapeake Bay in our 1982 Carver to spend the night in St. Michaels Maryland. Needless to say, a lot of the conversation will center on Mr. Queen!

Re: New Ellery Queen Story!

Hakan --

I emailed Emily at EQMM yesterday concerning your efforts to get a copy of the magazine. Here is her reply:

QUOTE

Your Swedish fan should e-mail customerservice@pennypublications.com, attn: Sandy Marlowe, and specify the issue that he's looking for. Someone will e-mail him back to get credit-card information, if that's how he'd like to pay, and the warehouse will send him a copy of that issue.

Hope this helps!

Angry Re: New Ellery Queen Story!

I'm sorry to say that that email address doesn't seem to get me anywhere either. Five days and no answer...

I presume the forms I filled earlier at http://www.themysteryplace.com/contact/ goes to the same email address, somewhere in Limbo.

Re: New Ellery Queen Story!

Hakan,
I'm sure they received both... I seem to remember that some years ago I went to the same fazes of frustration only to find out in the end that everything worked out just fine. Even in limbo ;-)
