Miss Marple on radio

I just heard June Whitfield (she of Ab Fab fame!) as Miss Marple in a couple of radio plays (Murder At the Vicarage and 4:50 From Paddington), and it struck me how well-adapted the matter was, and how talented she is! How do you like the idea of a BBC miniseries on the Miss Marple books with June in the lead role? Let the episodes be absolutely faithful to the original text, without any attempts of pseudo-modernisation. How does that sound?

Re: Miss Marple on radio

It's a wonderful idea. I made a topic for it previously and no one so much as commented.

I don't know if people have no idea what we are talking about, just don't care, or think we are nuts for enjoying audio versions of books over reading them.

Re: Miss Marple on radio

June Whitfield really was fantastic in the role. But after her masterful performance as Mrs. Lancaster in By the Pricking of My Thumbs, I don't think the lead role is open to her anymore for a TV series...

I think she meant he threatened, in public, to kill her.
Oh.
